Caron’s Tool Monitoring Adaptive Control (TMAC) system protects your CNC machine while providing valuable information about your cutting process. TMAC reduces the high costs associated with broken tools, lost production, and rejected parts by effectively measuring tool wear in real time. It operates on the principle that the power required to cut a part increases as the tool’s cutting edges deteriorate.

The “Adaptive” control feature of TMAC reduces cycle time and optimizes cutting time under changing cutting conditions to improve tool life.

Visualize

This is charting, viewing, and storage of detailed machine performance data that allows for the machinist and engineer to make better decisions about tool changes, feeds and speeds.

The visualization is particularly good for job setups, prototypes, and short runs.

Protect

This is the programming strategy where wear and work limits are incorporated to protect tooling and equipment by stopping the process when a tool has reached the end of its useful life or breaks. This can also discern material changes, and mis-loaded parts and tools. One of the most powerful functions, Protect, is an automator’s most valuable tool.

Boost

Using the full range of TMAC functionality Boost allows the machine to selectively over-feed based on real time conditions. This can reduce air cutting time, balance cuts, and make sure the machine is optimally loaded for a substantial cut time savings.

Error-Free Tool Offset Control

Manually entering tool wear offsets after part measurement is time consuming and susceptible to operator error. Mistakes calculating offsets or incorrectly inputting data can result in scrapped parts or machine damage.
